I started Cardiff Recorder Club in October 2019 with the aim of getting recorder players from across the city (and further afield) to meet eachother and explore new repertoire in a supportive and learning-focused environment.

I run afternoons on Sundays from 12-2.30pm every 4-6 weeks. In this time, in addition to playing really fantastic music by composers ranging from Guillame de Machaut, Antonio Vivaldi and Philip Glass, we also cover important issues relating to recorder technique such as articulation and co-ordination, discuss the finer points of tuning and temperament, play technical exercises together and enjoy freshly ground coffee and cake!

The club operates on a first come, first served basis for reserving spaces and I accept no more than 12 in each session, largely playing music one-to-a-part. Members are expected to be comfortable playing both F and C fingerings and be confident readers (though, music is sent out in advance to practise).
